A Letter to my Younger Self

To my younger self,

I wanted to write to you and try to help prepare you for some things upcoming in your life. To be able to let you know that things will be alright. I want to share some things from my heart that I think will help you at this time in your life.

First off, I know that it sucks that mom and dad are divorced. You never thought that this would happen to your family. While the pain of it hurts, trust me when I tell you that on the other side of this is a family dynamic that shows God’s loving kindness. Speaking of which, you probably need to talk to someone about your anger. Don’t hurt your friends feelings because they are trying to be there for you. You will lose some friends along the way, that’s just life, but what God has in store for you will be the people that can speak into your life. The family will change, but it will be a beautiful picture of God’s love when all is said and done.

My Family

When you to go college, you should take it serious. There’s no good reason it should takes as long as it did to graduate. Actually study when you need to. This isn’t high school and you’re not going to be able to slide through each class. The parties and hanging out are ok, but don’t lose yourself in this noise. Yes, it’s noise, because being in this environment isn’t really who you are. You’re running and don’t realize your running. Find what you love to do. Let me just help you here, go into social work. You’re life up to this point has been about helping people around you. Money should not be your driving factor. Follow your passion to help people.

One day you’ll meet a girl at church. No advice here, just want to give you a preview. She’s special and you will be fine. She’s beautiful, has a smile that lights up your day, eyes that see you for you, and she will push you to be a better version of yourself. Trust yourself. You will mess up along the way and that’s alright because she won’t leave you. Your life will change for the better because of her. Some of the best times ahead for you are tied to her. Your heart is tied to her and it’s a great place to be.

You’re going to go through a lot of different things in the upcoming years. You’re stronger than you think. God has something very special for you. Trust Him, trust God. You’re not meant to carry some of the burdens that you will no doubtly try to carry. Give those burdens to God, He’s supposed to carry them. You’re life will turn out better than anything you can image right now. Test and trials come, but they also go and God will protect you through them all. Everything is going to turn out pretty awesome if I do say so myself.

Be true to yourself,

Me,
